“We Are Latvian” ALA Latvian Museum Traveling Exhibition

March 15th-28th at the Seattle Latvian Center

11710 3rd Ave. NE, Seattle, WA 98125

The Latvian Association of the State of Washington is pleased to announce the installation of the American Latvian Association’s Latvian Museum traveling exhibition “We Are Latvian” — an audio-visual exhibit spanning a 1000 years of Latvian history and the history of the region.

Discover the rich heritage, traditions, customs, and culture of the people of Latvia, which have endured through centuries of invasion and occupation. Learn their stories — from serfdom, to becoming NATO allies, from 1000 AD to Soviet occupation, from the Great War, to the Singing Revolution and the Baltic Way.

Opening Reception

Sunday, March 15th at 12:00 pm

Please join us for the opening of We Are Latvian, featuring a keynote address from special guest Pēteris Dajevskis, creator of the Latvian Museum Traveling Exhibit.

Over the course of his professional life, Pēteris Dajevskis has been involved in projects for the Brooklyn Museum, the New York Public Library, the Latvian National Library “Palace of Light”, the National Museum of the American Indian, Gustave Heye Center of the Smithsonian Institution, and the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia. Projects right here in Washington state include the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area (US National Park Service) and the South Cle Elum Rail Yard, National Historic District.

After speeches, we invite you to enjoy refreshments and view the exhibition.
